Description
The Project Manager / Estimator in excavation and civil engineering works is responsible for the planning, organization and management of excavation and civil engineering projects. It plays a crucial role in estimating costs, preparing bids and coordinating field activities. As the main link between the client, the site teams and management, he ensures the efficient completion of projects while respecting budgets and deadlines.
Responsibilities
•Analyze plans, specifications and quotes for excavation and civil engineering projects to determine the scope of work.
•Prepare accurate cost estimates taking into account materials, labor, equipment and other resources required.
•Write and submit detailed proposals and bids to potential clients.
•Develop detailed project schedules in coordination with clients and site teams.
•Plan and organize the resources needed for each phase of the project, including labor, equipment and materials.
•Prepare orders for materials and manage inventories.
•Supervise the execution of work in the field to ensure that it is carried out in accordance with plans and specifications.
•Coordinate the activities of site teams, subcontractors and suppliers to ensure smooth progress of the work.
•Track and control project costs to ensure they remain within established budget.
•Maintain regular and effective communication with clients to provide updates on project progress.
•Collaborate with engineers, architects and other stakeholders to resolve technical issues and challenges encountered on site.
•Establish and supervise quality control procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards and customer requirements.
•Ensure all safety practices are followed on site and promote a culture of safety among workers.
•Maintain accurate and complete project documentation, including progress reports, site records and financial reports.
•Prepare final project reports for management and clients, detailing project results and performance.
•Perform any other related task.
Requirements
•Degree in civil engineering, construction management or a related field.
•Professional certification in project management (PMP) or estimation (CCE) is an asset.
•Experience in estimating and managing excavation or civil engineering projects.
•Proven experience supervising large, complex projects an asset.
•In-depth knowledge of excavation techniques and equipment.
•Mastery of project management and estimation software (e.g. MS Project, Primavera, AutoCAD, Geomensura, or others).
•Understanding of building codes and construction regulations.
•Ability to manage several mandates simultaneously and able to meet deadlines.
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
•Ability to negotiate and maintain strong professional relationships with customers, subcontractors and suppliers.
•Strong ability to solve problems and make decisions quickly.
•Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
•Organizational skills and attention to detail.
