Description
The Landscaping Laborer in an excavation company actively participates in earthmoving and excavation projects. Under the supervision of site managers, he is responsible for various tasks related to the development of outdoor spaces, including land preparation, installation of landscaping materials and maintenance of equipment. This position requires good physical condition, knowledge of basic landscaping techniques and the ability to work in a team in varied outdoor environments.
Responsibilities
•Participate in the preparation of land for landscaping, including clearing, grading and excavation.
•Use hand tools and mechanical equipment to dig, move earth and prepare soil.
•Prepare the foundation and measure the contours and heights of the project.
•Spread and level crushed stone and other materials.
•Carry out the compaction of the materials.
•Finish paved surfaces.
•Use the required equipment (concrete saw, compactor, vibrating plate, level, etc.).
•Planting of plants (trees, shrubs, perennials, etc.) and grassing;
•Install landscaping features such as pavers, block walls, flagstones, edging, retaining walls, irrigation systems, etc.
•Plant trees, shrubs, flowers and other plants according to the development plans.
•Repair and maintain equipment and tools used in development projects.
•Respect safety standards on the construction site and use personal protective equipment.
•Ensure that the work carried out complies with the plans and specifications of the project.
•Work closely with other team members and supervisors to ensure projects are completed efficiently.
•Communicate any problems or obstacles encountered on site to site managers.
•Perform any other related task.
Requirements
•Experience in landscaping, construction or excavation preferred, an asset.
•Knowledge of basic landscaping techniques and use of manual and mechanical tools, an asset.
•Plan reading skills, an asset.
•Good ability to work in a team.
•Have attention to detail and a job well done.
•Possess a valid driving license, an asset.
•Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision.
•Good physical condition and ability to carry out manual work outdoors in all weather conditions.
•Reliability, punctuality and flexibility
