Description

The Health and Safety Coordinator is responsible for the implementation, management and supervision of health and safety programs within construction sites. It ensures that all operations comply with current safety standards, contributes to accident prevention and ensures training and awareness of safety for employees.

Responsibilities

Develop, implement and maintain health and safety policies and procedures on construction sites.
Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety laws and regulations.
Develop and audit processes related to health and safety.
Ensure planning and monitoring of the completion of internal audits and OHS visits.
Carry out regular site inspections to identify and assess potential risks.
Propose corrective and preventive measures to minimize risks.
Receive and review incident and accident reports.
Assist employees in managing deviations and corrective and preventive actions
Investigate incidents and accidents to determine their causes and implement corrective actions.
Organize and conduct training sessions on safety practices and emergency procedures.
Facilitate and direct site committee meetings, then write the reports.
Raise employee awareness of professional risks and the importance of safe practices.
Maintain health and safety documentation up to date, including accident and training records.
Prepare and complete various OHS reports, documents and statistics.
Prepare periodic reports on safety performance indicators.
Work closely with site managers, subcontractors, external professionals and management teams to ensure a safe working environment.
Communicate security policies and updates to site teams.

Requirements

Professional certification in health, safety or emergency response is preferred.
Safety certifications (such as CSP – Certified Safety Professional).
Have a college diploma, certificate or university diploma in occupational health and safety.
Hold a Workplace First Aid card, an asset.
Master the laws, regulations and standards related to OHS.
Experience in a similar role, an asset.
Proven experience in health and safety management on construction sites.
In-depth knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations.
Mastery of risk assessment and accident prevention tools and techniques.
Excellent communication and training skills.
Ability to work independently and in a team.
Strong sense of observation and analysis to detect potential risks.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize emergencies.
Be able to handle emergency situations and resolve them.
Knowledge of security management software and common office tools (MS Office).
