Description

The Equipment Director – Fleet Management and Mechanics works within a company specializing in construction, particularly in excavation and civil engineering. Its main role is to supervise the management of the company’s equipment fleet as well as mechanical-related operations, thus ensuring the availability and reliability of equipment on construction sites.

Responsibilities

Oversee the company’s entire fleet of equipment, including construction equipment, utility vehicles, trucks and other specialized equipment.
Plan and coordinate preventive maintenance and repairs of equipment to ensure their proper functioning and extend their lifespan.
Manage budgets allocated to equipment maintenance and repair, ensuring efficient use of resources.
Recruit, train and supervise a team of mechanics. technicians, supervisors and administrative clerks.
Develop and implement safety and operating policies and procedures for equipment operations, ensuring compliance with safety standards on construction sites.
Manage department expenses and inventory.
Collaborate with project managers and foremen to plan equipment needs based on specific project requirements.
Maintain accurate records of equipment maintenance and repairs and associated costs.
Research and evaluate new equipment and technologies to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs.
Provide recommendations to management to improve the efficiency and profitability of department operations.
Maintain good relationships with suppliers and manage necessary equipment purchases.
Ensure compliance with equipment and safety regulations.

Requirements

Significant experience in equipment fleet management, preferably in the construction, excavation or civil engineering industry.
Planning expertise: experience with ERP systems, proficiency in Excel and ability to perform business cases
Knowledge of mechanics: experience supervising mechanical teams, particularly in the areas of heavy vehicles, construction equipment and welding.
Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and lead a multidisciplinary team.
In-depth knowledge of construction equipment and associated technologies, as well as mechanical and preventive maintenance principles.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, to interact with various internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work under pressure in a dynamic environment.
Commitment to workplace safety and compliance with current regulations.
