Description

The Disaster Estimator must determine and estimate the work to be done, communicate and establish business relationships with claims adjusters, communicate with project managers to ensure that gross margins are achieved and that client expectations are met.

Responsibilities

Perform accurate cost estimates (materials and labor) for the reconstruction or renovation of damaged buildings, based on solid technical expertise and a thorough understanding of damage, such as caused by fire and water.
Justify costs according to market prices and support everything with supporting documents.
Visit the various construction sites to carry out damage surveys, carry out exploratory openings, document the losses with detailed photographs and prepare complete plans and specifications.
Intervene quickly when there are extras and adjust your quote and have it approved by the client via the project manager.
Deal with insurance company claims adjusters and estimators.
Maintain effective communications and a spirit of collaboration with all stakeholders involved in the completion of various files.
Actively contribute to the continuous improvement of work methods and tools, while staying informed of the latest industry trends.
Perform all other related tasks.

Requirements

Experience in construction estimating, an asset
In-depth knowledge of building components and common construction techniques
Knowledge of insurance regulations and protocols, an asset
Have a good knowledge of insurance claims procedures, an asset
Have computer skills
Knowledge of software, such as Xactimate, XactAnalysis, Simbility, Dash and Suite Office, an asset
Have a valid driver’s license
Have excellent verbal and written communication skills
Be autonomous, organized and meticulous, demonstrating rigor, having a good sense of initiative and concern for a job well done
Good ability to establish and manage expectations
Professional attitude and excellent customer service skills
Works well in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
